Andrea Bocelli is a famous Italian born singer and songwriter. He was born on the 22nd of September, 1958 in Lajatico, Pisa located in Tuscany. Andrea was born with poor eyesight. He became blind at the age of 12 following a football accident. Bocelli has recorded 14 solo studio albums including pop and classical music, three greatest hits albums and nine complete operas selling over 100 million records or CDs worldwide.

In 1998, Andrea Bocelli was named one of People’s 50 Most Beautiful People. In 1999, he was nominated the Best New Artist at the Grammy Awards. On the 21st of September, 2014, I was absolutely thrilled and honoured to have had the opportunity to go to Andrea Bocelli’s Melbourne Concert which was held at the Rod Laver Arena in the city. His voice was amazing!! The above Youtube link is one of my favourite songs written and sung by him. The title of this song, “Because We Believe”, highlights the importance that we are all special and we were all born to shine in this world. Luciano Pavarotti was a very popular Italian opera singer. He was born on the 12th of October, 1935 in Modena, Emilia Romagna, Italy. He died on the 6th of September, 2007, aged 71. Pavarotti was one of the Three Tenors. Pavarotti became well known for his televised concerts and media appearances. He performed in many theatrical operas like La Boheme’ and Madama Butterfly. This is the statue of La Pieta’, created by Michelangelo in 1498-1500. It took Michelangelo 2 years to complete. La Pieta’ is a religious sculpture which clearly shows Mary’s sadness when Jesus is taken down from the cross after his crucifixion. This statue made Michelangelo a well known artist. The Story of Michelangelo
Michelangelo (1475-1564)
Michelangelo Buonarotti was a famous Italian painter, artist and sculptor. He was born on March 6 in 1475 in Caprese, Tuscany, Italy. At the early age of 13 he undertook an artist apprenticeship in the workshop of a painter named Domenico Ghirlandaio. After one year of learning the art of frescos, Michelangelo went on to study at the sculpture school in the Medici Gardens. During his time at school, Michelangelo began to study human anatomy, the humna body and how it works.
In 1498-1500, Michelangelo created the outstanding and famous sculpture of Mary and Jesus titled, La Pieta’. This sculpture depicts Mary holding Jesus as he is taken down from the cross- a very emotional piece of art. La Pieta’ can now be seen in its original place in the St Peter’s Basilica in Rome. Michelangelo was only 25 years old when he created such an amazing art piece. In 1501 to 1504, he created another popular and symbolic sculptor of the statue of David.

In May 1508, Michelangelo was assigned the job of painting religious images depicting bible stories from the new and old testament on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in The Vatican located in Rome.These paintings took Michelangelo 3 years and 3 months to complete.Most of the paintings were completed lying down on his back.   4. I was reading a book once and it had a couple of sentences about Michelangelo and that he was a famous artist, so I was curious to find out more! It was wonderful finding out more about Michelangelo. Those paintings and sculptures were amazing!

  11. Marco, according to history, the Leaning Tower of Pisa took 322 years to build due to its poor engineering and foundations. The architect who first designed such a remarkable landmark was Bonnano Pisano. Unfortunately, Pisano never saw his masterpiece complete as it took a very long time to construct due to its many problems.
